Language Development:
Pre-Production: The first stage of language development. This stages is extremely important in the development process because it allows the child to imitate all the words that they hear. This stage generally lasts for six to nine months. Pre-Production is when children can't really talk yet but learn through listening to other talk.
Early-Production: The second stage of language development. Kids are generally about one year old during this stage. They know up to about 1000 words and slowly being to talk.
Speech Emergence: The final stage of language development. Young kids know up to about 3000 words but are still shy to communicate with other people, especially people that they see everyday outside of their parents. They use simple sentences to communicate but generally these sentences are not grammatically correct and are hard to understand the first few times they talk to you.
