- Sigmund Freud is known as a classical theorist. The theory that he proposed was called the psychoanalytical theory.
- He believed that we are aware of our thoughts, which are in our conscious mind but we are unaware of other thoughts which are located in our unconscious mind.
- He also believed in free association which a person allows thoughts to float freely without censorship
- He also proposed the psychosexual theory which contains five stages; oral, anal, phallic, latent, and genital. This theory of his is considered to be very controversial because according to Freud, these stages are what will shape your attitude and personality later in life. This would mean that sex is the driving force for human development which many people disagree with.
